Cade and Kai

A couple of weeks ago these two lil’ guys got to hang out together for a whole week.

They have been the best of friends for a very, very long time!  Kai is the son of my cousin, Kenny.  As it turns out, Kai’s younger sister, Karissa, was hanging out at the camp with Reagan and the grandmas and great aunts and great grandma.  I know they had a blast because Reagan barely had time to talk to me when I called to check on her.  lol

Anyways, the boys have been the greatest of friends since they were lil’ bity.    Even though they only see each other a few times a year, they always pick up right were they left off!  It happened to work out for Kai to come up here and spend a week with us, and they boys had such a great time.  We went to the area free splash parks, went to Salt City Splash Aquatic Center, and had a few snow cones 😀  They played basketball, played games on the PS3, and had lots of wrestling sessions.

It’s really been a lot of fun for them to be together.  What really maked me laugh was to hear them giggling.  And they did that a lot!!

This is me and my cousins and our lil’ guys (they were around 1 year old here)  From left to right: Kenny with Kai, Chad with Brock, and me with Cade.

They were about 2 years old here.

They boys showing me how they really feel about each other 😀

This is me with Kai’s daddy, Kenny

It’s all good

My kiddos are gone this week.  I took them to Oklahoma last weekend to spend some time with Nana & Cowpa.  One evening that I was there, I made dinner for my parents and my Aunt Meme & Uncle Curt and all the kiddos (mine and 2 of Meme’s grandkids).  I made Ham and Cheese Hot Pockets and Snickerdoodle Bars…mmmm!  Anyways, Curt was telling me how quiet it is now that all 4 of their boys are grown and out of the house, and how peaceful it is.  LOL  He said, “I know that people always think – What am I going to do when the kids are gone?! – and I wondered the same thing.  But I’m here to tell you:  It’s nice!!”

Let me preface with this:  I know he loves his boys very much and I know that I love my kiddos very much.  But I’ve gotten a small glimpse of what it will be like in the future, when my babies are out of the house, and I can honestly say that I’m going to be okay with it.  Am I in a hurry for this time to come?  No!!  Am I gonna be sad and cry when it’s their time to leave?  You can plan on it.  I want to thoroughly enjoy each and every step and stage my kids go through.  But what I’m trying to say is this:  On the other side…when they are all moved out…I’m still gonna have Mike.  He’s my best friend and in that regard, I am excited for it to just be me and him again.  The man is awesome and fun and he inspires me.

Which leads me into saying this:  If your husband (or if you’re a man: YOU) haven’t gone to Men’s Encounter, yet.  Please strongly encourage your husband to go.  And if you’re a man and you’re reading this: GO!  I was a bit skeptical about Mike going.  He was a bit skeptical about going.  He’s not super emotional.  He’s been to a lot of conferences.  He’s seen and experienced “mountain top” experiences.  He’s a pastor.  He’s been in a church since birth.  But I’m here to tell you, he encountered God this past weekend.  In a different way.  In a way just meant for men.  He’s still my awesome Mike, and yet changed.  I know this probably sounds like a commercial for the Men’s Encounter that CCC is hosting in September, but I don’t mean it to be.  God is infiltrating Crossroads through this ministry.  I can’t stress it enough.  It’s amazing.  Encourage your husbands to go in September and if you’re a man, please contact one of our ministers about it.  As one of the men said when they got back: “Jesus showed up”.  All 16 men that went were deeply impacted and so have been all the men that have gone before them.

The Arch

We finally went to the Arch on Friday.  We chose not to go up in it this time around.  I wanted to wait until Clark will remember it.  It was still an awesome site….and the museum inside was amazing.

I’m looking forward to getting some great pictures off of Mike’s camera from last week’s stay in St. Louis.  They should be really great!!

Also, it’s been awhile since I’ve posted any recipes….but they are coming!!  I’ll have some this week for sure!

We have had such a great time staying with Matt & Nicole & Lily. And it’s coming to a close all too soon…

Yesterday, we headed out to Grant’s Farm…another great free attraction in St. Louis. It’s got the original home of Ulysses S. Grant and it’s also the home of the Anheuser-Busch Clydesdale Horses. It’s a lot like a small zoo with some cool birds, elephants, camels, and lots of other animals. They will even let you try out two cups of their beer…for free…if you’re into that sort of thing :D. However, my favorite part was feeding the baby goats.

Today we hung out here most of the day. Everyone went swimming again this afternoon, except me. I stayed back here, icing down foot/toe and cursing why all this stupid kind of stuff happens to me….

Not really…about the cursing part, at least. I just watched t.v. And enjoyed the quiet :D. I did finally break down and call our family doctor. I’ve got an appointment on Monday. By then, it will have been 9 weeks since that fateful day that I stubbed my toe on that chair. Who knew?! I guess I’ve waited long enough, right?

Anyhoooooo, back to our vacation. Despite my toe woes…we’ve really had a great time. We had some awesome pizza tonight and we got to see Matt play softball. Those Campbell boys have skills, I tell ya!!

My kiddos have really connected with Lily. You see in these pics that they were all having a great time together. Even Boomer & Maggie were in sync (our Jack Russells)…lol. However, there was a special little bond between Cade and Lily. She really took to him!! He taught her how to wrestle 😀 and she in turn would squeal and run around in sheer delight. It’s been a lot of fun to see this cool relationship form. I won’t be showing you any pictures of the tears tonight at bedtime. You see… Lily will still be asleep in the morning when we leave, and Cader’s big 9 year old heart was crushed to have to say good-bye. He’s really gonna miss her. It’s these beautiful, relaxing, soul uplifting family times that I long for our families to be closer. It makes me want to live closer to my brother & sister and their families. It makes me long to live closer to Mike’s siblings and their families. But God has called us to do something else. Something bigger. Something for His kingdom. But oh, how I wish for close proximity to family. Someday….

We’ll be in the road again tomorrow..already…

Hanging with the Campbells

To save money and because they are so great, we are staying with the Campbells…the Matt & Nicole & Lily Campbells, that is. They actually live in Edwardsville, Il, just outside of St Louis. Matt, Mike’s youngest brother, is a pastor at Le Claire Christian Church, and Nicole is now a stay at home mommy. However, she does sell really awesome custom made picture frames on Etsy.

Go check out her stuff: http://www.etsy.com/shop/sweetlilydesign

And then there is sweet lil’ Lily. She’s so much fun!! Today we went to the local YMCA so that the kids could swim. Supa Fun…as Clark would say 😀

St Louis Zoo

We had a wonderful day at the zoo!! We had perfect weather and got to see most of the park…despite my bum foot. These pics are just some basics I took with my iPhone. I’ll post more later when we get home…because Mike took some awesome, awesome pics with his camera.
